Context
A great business idea means little without the right location. SuaQuadra was created to solve exactly that problem: helping entrepreneurs find the ideal space for their businesses. The platform connects property owners and tenants in a simple, fast, and smart way, using strategic data to make the process of choosing a commercial location easier.
At just 22, I was the first Product Designer hired by the company, becoming part of their Founding Team and helping develop both their business and product.
Main challenges
I took on the challenge of being SuaQuadra’s only designer in a context where not even a visual identity existed yet. I started from scratch—building the brand, designing the first version of the product, and even aiding the process of hiring my own design lead, Cadu Ferreira, to help structure the team.
Stage 1: Branding
Working alongside other design and marketing professionals from Polar, Ltda., I supported the branding process for SuaQuadra ahead of its PR launch. We redesigned the logo, which had initially been created as a temporary solution by an outsourced studio, redefined the main color palette and typefaces, planned Instagram content (both visual and written), built a proprietary image bank, and launched the brand at ABF — the world’s largest franchising expo.
Stage 2: Platform ideation
I kicked off the platform ideation process by going beyond the desk — literally. I visited 17 commercial properties and spoke directly with both owners and potential tenants (small business owners looking to rent) in order to map out their biggest pain points within the commercial rental process.
These early field insights were essential to shaping a digital experience that not only aligned with the brand’s purpose, but also became grounded in real user needs.
Stage 2: Prototyping & Validation
During the prototyping phase, I worked closely with developers at different experience levels — which meant lots of collaboration, patience, and adaptability to keep everything on track. It was a hands-on, learning-rich process. Only after our lead designer joined, were we able to truly refine the experience and finally launch the website.
