Context

Localiza&Co. is the sixth most valuable brand in Brazil and is recognized as one of the country’s most innovative companies. Since 1973, it has been modernizing its processes to improve the experience of over 20,000 employees. However, the payment management journey of Meoo — the company’s car subscription product — still relied on outdated processes.

In early 2025, I was reassigned to the Meoo team with the responsibility of redesigning the billing experience a challenge I embraced with enthusiasm.

Main challenges

Documentation

Until then, the billing system had never been a priority — and no documentation existed. Before starting, I needed to map the entire journey and create a scalable documentation framework for the long term.

Low investment

The low prioritization meant we had to prove the importance of modernization. To overcome this, we conducted intensive alignment sessions to highlight the benefits a new experience would bring to employees.

Tight schedule

For each system feature, we had less than a week to deliver, which required strong collaboration between design and development.

My role

As the sole designer in the Billing squad, I was responsible for leading all stages of the Design process. Although some research had already been conducted by our PO, the new interfaces had to be designed almost from scratch.


We built a robust platform with a scalable template, already designed to accommodate future feature implementations.

Stage 1: Briefing

When the briefing arrived, the initial scope was limited to a single feature: filtering the list of pending statements. However, as the design progressed, we identified the need to include two additional features: bulk statement uploads and searching by overdue payments.

Problems to solve

The main pain points were the difficulty of filtering and finding statements, along with the need to manually upload each spreadsheet.

Stage 2: Ideation & Protoyping

Funnily enough, our PO had already drafted an initial idea of how he envisioned the new system. With that, we had an analog sketch based on the legacy platform, a few paper sketches I created to better understand the context, and some older usage analyses. From there, I started the redesign and refinement process.

Stage 3: Usability Testing & Validation

After designing the first version of each feature, we met with representatives from the Operations team to validate whether the new flow met their needs. We conducted interviews and usability tests, aiming to identify key friction points and ensure a smoother final experience.
